Almost There...Here
Four years old going to preschool finally the last day. Mommy when will I get to start real school? Soon baby your Almost there. Six Mommy when will I get to be like the big kids where I get to go to different classrooms? Soon your almost there it will be here before you know it. Sixth grade I'm finally here with the big kids what a hard day it's not like I thought it would be but I'm almost there. Eigth grade man it's getting real in life I'm almost a real teenager High School Is coming I'm nervous. Mom I'm scared for high school well baby your almost there now it's nothing you can do but enjoy it it's like the first day of kindergarten your just on your own now baby be strong you can get through it I just won't be holding your hand every step of the way but I will always be there. First day of ninth grade palms sweaty the old scent of my mothers perfumes on my hand an clothes from the hug I gave her before I set off onto the road of becoming a young adult as I walk up the stairs I see all these faces I get my schedule and all I can hear on my way to my class is my mothers voice saying your almost there next thing I know I'm here with a group of kids old an new faces just a little bit more mature there's deeper voices now which have changed from the soft voices I played with. Almost There I tell myself day in and day out everyday of high school. Now I'm Here finally closer to true adult hood and leaving the child like ways behind it's now senior year wow does time fly I can remember holding my mothers hand tightly and her comforting words almost there baby now here I am finally in the 12th grade about to embark on my own only thing I have now are my mothers words in the back of my head telling me I'm almost there it's finally graduation day I see all these faces around me and think how for years we heard Your Almost There we felt it took forever but now were finally Here
