Alone

Summer fling don't mean a thing,

Yet I can't help but wonder.

As days turn to weeks, turn to months.

and there is not a single blunder.

I think of you each day at work,

and pray you think of me.

Your name appears on my phone each day

and makes me weak in the knees.

I shared with you my innermost feelings

and gave you a shoulder to cry on.

And in return you gave me to me

a hope of love to build upon.

I put my all into us, but felt

that's not what I was shone.

And now I wonder where I went wrong

as now I am alone.
