Alone

Rising dawn, somber and sorrowful The fawn searches for his mother in the new light, lies down and laps the cool water of the lake And then lunges himself up the serrated landscape in hopes of finding an escape somewhere where he can be safe. But the mountain comes fierce with a corpse on its shoulder And the fawn lets out a yell of sorrow.
