Alone

Fog rolls in covering the beach like a blanket.

The sand nestled between my toes feels cool and damp.

I trudge along the never ending landscape,

only seeing miles and miles of white and blue.

The early morning gloom closes in around me,

With it’s white essence engulfing me.

The tide lapse onto the shore hitting my numb toes.

The shocking yet soothing water melts beneath my feet.

My feet drag along the edge of the water with

My toes slowly sinking into the smooth sand, coldness embracing them.

The taste of salt hangs in the humid air,

And the welcoming chill from the water is comforting.

The world is motionless and still.

It is only me and my thoughts echoing in my head.

I don't need the comfort of people to feel at peace.

I have found a place where the world has pressed pause.

I was alone with only the seagulls as company.

The sound of the their desperate calls of need rings in my ears.

They call to each other with a mixture of sounds,

Their own communication I would never understand.

The sun starts to emerge, escaping from the fog.

The ocean becomes lighter as it stretches on, holding its secrets.

I can't hear any more seagulls and realize they had left and moved on.

And now, I thought, I must do the same as I leave this mystical place.
