Alone
I do not want to be known,
I truly prefer to be alone.
I am mysterious, I am intriguing, I am quiet.
They think I’m weird, they think I’m dangerous, but that’s not quite it.
This road I am traveling on has not been straight;
It had curves, zigs, zags, bumps, that always made me late.
I missed the beginning, so I ended up in the back.
Every time I wanted to meet someone new I saw a flashback.
I guess you can say I act like a cat,
We love to sleep, eat, and avoid contact, but it’s not like that.
I just prefer to never leave my comfort zone.
I guess you can say I just prefer to be alone.
But this fear has crippled me,
Kept me in the darkness, letting me drown slowly.
It was time to burst out of the bubble of security.
It was time to embrace maturity.
The world often seems like a dark place,
Never knowing who truly resides behind a face.
But to be mature means learning who to trust,
Because in order to survive it’s a must.
I set out to slay the beast.
And I did by setting up a feast.
I lured it out of the darkness,
And slayed it without much of a mess.
No longer will I let fear stand in my way.
No longer will I let it ruin my day.
I will now change my tone.
I guess you can say I don’t want to be alone.
With the beast now gone, I needed to learn to stand on my own.
But since the slaying, I learned I was strong, I realized that I’ve grown.
I have a whole world to conquer
And I know I can because I am stronger.
