Alone

I sit alone in the corner thinking to myself

How could this happen?

Inevitable in life it may be

I never thought it true or a possibility

Until now…

I must accept it

Only craziness will come if I refuse

But how can I; it feels unreal

However, deep inside I know it’s true

The reality flows through my bones

Feeling it touch my heart, I shiver

Coldness has crept into my body

It chills my soul and bitters my emotions
I don’t know how I can feel

My body has been numbed by this

Yet I have every sort of emotion

Pain in my heart

Loss in my soul

Disbelief in my mind

Anger in my bones

What emotion don’t I feel?

Ah, happiness; when I need it most

But it has left me; I know not when it’ll return

I’m doubt it could soothe my pain now

The thought makes me sullen

I sulk further into my chair

Silence the only thing keeping me sane

Retreating deep within myself,

I search for the happy memories

But at this moment I cannot find them

Sadness and loss overpowering my mind

A part of me, it seems, has been stolen

How can I ever be happy again knowing this?

Nothing will ever be able to replace this hole

Don’t tell me to get over it and move on

You are ignorant of my pain if you say this

Tell me you would not feel the same way

Yes, you say you wouldn’t

But you lie to my face

Only until you experience a loss like this,

Will you continue to be naïve

These thoughts race through my mind

Too fast; I’m on edge, going a mile a minute

I dig my nails into the chair, gritting my teeth

Wishing the pain away, yet it stays

Mocking me with its cruelty

I yearn to scream, but my voice is lost, silenced

My body is empty and worn

I have depleted myself

My eyes refuse to tear; staring into the darkness

My body is stiff, racked with emotions

I am alone in the room, but I don’t notice

I have retreated to the depths of my mind

The only true solitude

Hours drift by slowly, but I care not

I have no feeling or desire to do anything, but sit

So, I sit alone in the corner thinking to myself

A thought has passed through my mind

It brings a tiny bit of happiness to me

It warms my soul

I have found the silver lining

The directness of the idea is quite shocking

But the words are true

Just as life is given, it is taken

It cares not for who you are

When your time has come, you must go

Tears and distant memories will be all that is left

How direct I may be now

But I have felt it too

Pain

Loss

Heartbreak

But I know we will reunite one day

That is the thought I drill into my being

Knowing this for a fact

Until that day, I say

Goodbye
