Alone In the Dark

The boy sat alone in the dark, he did not cry nor did he smile. No, this boy did not feel because he was nothing but a shell, and a shell is nothing. Would you be any other way? Would you be able to smile if everything you loved was stolen? Can you even see what has happened to him? If you listen hard enough you'll hear the boy murmur "young body, old soul". This boy has seen the world's cruelty, he has seen why mankind is doomed. He felt their indifference, he saw their selfishness, and he tasted his blood when they abused him. But he did not fall, no he did not fall because he had something precious and fragile to protect. He had something many people have but do not acknowledge. he had Hope, and Hope burns bright in times of distress. However all good things come to an end. His Hope was destroyed when the one who should love him the most failed to love him at all. so he was cast out by a mothers indifference. so i ask again, would you not be the same, if all you loved was stolen? Do not look at the boy with pity, for he needs not your pity, but rather with respect. after all has he not earned it? he went through hell and is still standing, he is alone and is still able to smile, he is stronger than he knows and his fate is to die for the ones that spurned him. so show him the respect he has earned, and not your pity.
