Alone is Not the End

Surrounded by many but no one is there

There is a void inside that cannot be filled

You cover the pain but it is hard to bear

You were against leaving but your parents were thrilled

You go on acting like everything is fine

Missing the place, you still call home

It was supposed to be an adventure where everyone was kind

You seek comfort but you’re still alone

You miss your friends but they’ve surely moved on

They said they’d stay in touch – Lies

You apparently don’t matter since your gone

Thinking about them causes pools of tears

They stream down your lifeless face

The only thing you have is you

No one there to help you through

This sense of belonging is gone with your home

Everything; your school, your house. All gone.

Leaving you finally free to move on

Alone, at first, is a terrifying thing

No one around but the thoughts you think

When really you’re all you need

The thing you cannot live without is you

The thought that in order to live

Someone or something must give

A life to you they do not owe

When all you need is to let go

Become yourself and you’ll be freed

Of a life “alone” you will not see

Only a life where you can be

A light of your own is all you need
