Alone on a road
I tremble for I stand alone
I have no comfort, nothing to calm my mind as it wonders
My thoughts race because I stand alone on a cold road leading no where
My eyes have nothing to focus upon so the stare glazed over
When my visual haze clears I see a figure in the distance,
There far far away stands a man old and withered by the world
He stares at me and I stare at him, deeper and deeper I stare but don't recognized him
Once again I tremble for I am afraid of him
Then I realize the man is me, defeated by the world, and in a flash he is gone
I run to where he was standing
But the road drains my will, I gasp for breath and struggle for energy but as I move I wither
With every movement my very life is drained, exhausted I stop
And with my last bit of strength I turn around
There in the distance I see a young man alone and afraid
My heart breaks for him, because i know the pain that lies ahead of him
For the young man is me
