Alone Together

A small island sits in the center of a sea like glass

Its waves so small they barely scrape the skyline

The island stays there

Silent and small.

There is a girl on that island.

She is lost there.

Lost,

Maybe in more ways than one.

Then again,

That’s how it always has been.

I am the girl lost on the island,

Which is both a mental and physical example

Of life’s struggles against adversity

Of which I’ve grown so tired.

I’m not alone.

I’d go crazy

Without

My guiding light

My star,

The only one I’d ever need…

My cat tiger.

Of course tigers with me.

He wouldn’t miss out on this adventure for anything!

He is something I take so often for granted,

The way he is always there

And always willing

He truly is a great cat.

Me and tiger will have such grand adventures on the island,

Which is completely void of human life,

Just how most places should be.

Humans cloud me up with the bad feelings.

But tiger only gives me joy.

What a great cat he is.

I’ve figured out somehow

The meaning of this perpetual existence some call life

Is happiness.

And that’s what my cat is.

He’s happiness.

Me and tiger will explore the island,

We won’t waste any time with regret,

We will fish,

Look up at the stars,

And waste the rest of our silly little lives away,

Floating,

 gently,

 slowly,

 above the sea of glass.
