Alone together

Dear you two,

Do you remember me?

Or since I’m not the hand you hold have you forgotten?

I still hold the secrets you gave me

I know mine are collecting dust on your shelf

Do you remember the night?

A hot summer night

We three under a red umbrella

Black metal chairs and hot sunlight

French pancakes and iced coffee

And complaints

Oh so many complaints

No attention

No future

No interest

No confidence

No anything

But each other

Do you remember how

We three were alone

But at we were alone together

I didn’t need the person

When I had good people

I remember

I was okay not having the one

When I had ones who cared

But neither of you were okay

So you found your girls

And I’m happy

You two are happy

But I think you’ve forgotten

That I’m still alone

But I’m alone alone

So it’s just me

under the red umbrella

Please don’t forget me
