the alpine gentian

F E A R

the cold swiss wind threatens to send me over

the weight of the world seems to be pulling me down

my world spins and my heart drops

but there

on the slope of the pilatus

standing out among the faded grass

a European Flower

L O V E

the plane has landed

back among philadelphias midnight lights

the warmth of an early august evening

and there, that flower,

flattened between the pages of

a notebook belonging to

an American Girl
