Always Almost
You almost loved me, just enough,
To make the soft feel not so tough,
You almost stayed, you almost tried,
But left before the tears had dried.
You promised me a quiet home,
Then left my mind to roam alone,
You gave me hope and gentle words,
Then taught me silence hurts like swords.
I wish you stayed to see me bloom,
But almost-love leaves too much room,
Now all I have are dreams that fade,
And echoes of the plans we made.
