Always & Forever
I know you still care Which makes this unfair But you left me shattered and broken now my words must be spoken Before this all started My love was uncharted But you knew the way in So I let you win The prize was my heart And you tore it apart Not only once, but twice I gladly rolled the dice Gambling for your affection With my every possession I was yours, and I thought you were mine But unknowingly I ran out of time As my happiest days came to an end reality began to twist and bend You told me you were sad Which I’ll admit made me mad I gave you my all But you still let me fall |
I love you and that’s why I let you go
Even as my entire body screamed no
I put your happiness above mine
Hoping I'd heal over time
But I am still broken
So now I give you this token
Always & Forever
That’s what you told me
What you meant was never
And that’s plain to see
That simple phrase is such a beautiful lie
A delicious poison that makes you cry
So now I'm breathing out a quiet sigh
Asking the little question, Why?
When I told you I love you, you said “Goodbye”
