Always Listening

Thank you.

What more can I say

Without you

I would have been left astray

When I enter this world

I had nothing

Nonetheless

You saw everything

You saw the bright future

the joy, the laughter

All you wanted for me

Was a Happily Ever After

I had become your joy

From the moment I was an infant

To the woman I had bloomed today

Your  love was instant

You taught me

What is wrong and right

Being fair and generous

Lifting my burdens to be light

You were there

As I gurgled my first word

Took my first steps

Into the world

Comfort me

When I was scared

Of the monsters

Lurking under my bed

Guided me through the years

As a little girl with pigtails

Jumping with joy

To start a new trail

Teaching the importance

Of truth and integerity

Keeping my head up

Keeping my dignity

You taught me of

Unconditional love

For a mother and her child

As pure as a feather from a dove

Working with me

Even through my teenage years

Urging me to listen

Have a pair of good ears

Be a good listener

Judge a person

Know their character

Don’t jump to a conclusion

I vow to make a promise

I will make you proud

In every way I can

Just like you knew I always would
