Always Something
Perhaps it’s the music that echoes in my skull as birds chirped outside.
Or the worn book in my hands and comforting feeling it gives
As my dog’s cold nose pressed against my leg,
Breathing evenly as I read
Or
It could be the darkness that surrounds me on a nightly stroll in my neighborhood.
The twinkling stars above me making me realize how small we really are.
The goose bumps on my skin when a cool wind brushes against me like a passing friend.
Maybe
It’s when something jumps out at me
Making me scream.
The chill that is sewn into my spine when I hear a noise that shouldn’t be.
Or the laughter of friends nearby.
The tears I cry.
Possibly the leaves that twirl in the air when a wind decides it wants a dance.
Maybe it’s the comfort of my rom.
It’s everywhere.
There’s always something
That makes me want to write.
Little stories, scary, wholesome, or sad.
I don’t know what it is but it’s
Always Something…
