Always surviving, never thriving!
What Being a Refugee means-Always surviving never thriving...
They hold back their tears coz they don't wanna seem helpless
Staying strong for their young ones, tomorrow would be better they say
Optimism is never lost to them, yet they are always at rock bottom
Dreams they hide, to avoid being heart broken
Someday they believe in, someday they look forward to
They sing at the top of their voices just to hide the pain of the loss they just experienced
Grieving silently, cheering loudly
They are full of life, full of greatness
Living everyday for a tomorrow that they can't seem to change
Paralyzed by the lack of power to make a difference in their lives
Hoping and wishing someday it will all sort itself out
Putting together the little they have got, for the little ones that can't sleep unfed
Never rid off the stressfulness of their lives
Do you know how it feels, to be so helpless?
Do you know how it feels, to lack the basic things in life?
Do you know how it feels, to live everyday with nothing but hope?
Do you know how it feels, to dream but never to achieve?
Do you know how it feels, to look the ones you bore in the eye and put them to bed, starved?
Let me tell you something, they do.
It is all they know; all they feel.
Always surviving, never thriving.
Fighting for the little they can get for the little ones that can't fight for themselves
Lining up all day everyday for water that runs freely everywhere but, their where
To cook with? To clean with? Or to drink? The dilemma of their lives
Not once do they question fate for putting them in such a place.
Optimism they say is the only dream they can achieve
Optimism they believe is the saviour of their troubling dilemmas
Optimism they smile at, laugh at and think about
Optimism they hold tight for it is never letting them go
One day they hope their survival well lead them to thrive
One day...
