Always Taught, Never Learned

*Ding* *Ding* goes the bell

                The teacher closes the door

Trapped in this room like a cell

                Words written on the board

As the marker screeches and squeaks

                I zone out and think

How will I make it through these 36 weeks?

When this lesson and life share no link…

The screen is pulled down with a fight

                It never stays in place

Click the button, on goes the light

                Shinning in her face…

Still, I try and try to pay attention

But nothing you say is considered teaching

You read the words off the projection

I take the notes but they aren’t reaching

“Go memorize the key points and vocab!”

Take the test and forget all that

Nothing retained, my brain’s a nomad

Constantly searching to find where my educations at

I search and search but cannot find

The knowledge buried in my mind

Hoping I find something eventually

To know I’m where I’m supposed to be.
