Am I Doing It Right?

You smile. You frown.

You laugh. You cry.

Am I doing it right?

Through those tear-filled eyes, I see how you really feel about me.

Disappointment. Distress. Depression.

I do my best. It isn't enough. For you. For them. For me.

You give up. I give up on myself.

What keeps me going? Why do I strive for your love along with the others.

What keeps me from first loving myself and putting your happiness before my own?

Love?

...No.

Hope.

Hope that one day I'll see your smile again.
