Am I Next ?

You mistake a phone for a gun in your eyes.

Which results in my suffering and pain from my peoples demise.

All these damn lies!

When are you going to realize that the truth will one day arise?

It's too bad my pain is irrelevant in your eyes.

You see my skin and your mind thinks violence.

Yet we are the ones victimized by the badge you swore on to protect.

Abused, mistreated, MURDERED and still expect a peaceful protest.

If you feel like this is targeting you, most likely you need to take a knee too,

because that feeling you have that is eating you alive, that's guilt.

But your white privilege has allowed you to formulate it into fear.

And it is that fear that has allowed you to imprison my people into a new Jim Crow

Taking advantage of our culture but you refuse to show

that you stand with us.

And that same fear ensures you to call the cops on a black student sleeping in her common room.

As if she isn't tired enough of the bullshit she endures every other day

Fear.

It's a bitch isn't it. I feel it too.

But the difference between me and you,

is my type of fear.

See I fear my father's name may be the next to surface the news.

My fear differs from you because I fear the leader of my country may deem me inferior to my neighbor.

My fear is different.

Because my fear is a reality.

HATE!

Its a strong word which I really do regret to feel, but the ones who have been killed that

pain is just too real. How else am I to deal?

I don't want to be a victim.

But in a world where the color of your skin is already made out to be a weapon

we are never unarmed.

So I must stay alarmed until I can breathe.

but " I CAN'T BREATHE"
