Am I Wrong To Be In Love?

They say I'm confused. But they wouldn't question themselves if they were in love.
They say, I'm going through a phase, But I would be in the wrong if I said that to their face.
What's so wrong about caring for you?
Wanting to spend everyday with you?
Feeling our hearts beat as two.
Am I wrong for loving you?
Your a girl.
So what?
Boys like boys.
Girls like girls.
If this was opposite world, girls liking boys would be as weird.
But no, this isn't weird.
It's a human liking a human.
We're all people and the idea of two genders, liking each other should not be deemed weird because society is fucked up.
Gender roles should not be enforced at all.
Especially when it comes to us.
I'd give you my heart,if I could.
But would that be enough to combat this bullshit we see everyday?
I'd be your shield, allowing the insults to bounce off of me,protecting you because you mean more to me than they ever would.
I don't care what they think.
But, it hurts.
To know she doesn't think who I am is real
That my feelings lack any valid existence.
If she knew you, she'd probably change her mind.
No- She would change her mind.
You're amazing, lovely,beautiful,caring..
She'd have to see what I see in you..
Wouldn't she?
Or am I just wasting time, wishing on a plane
When the real shooting star's already left me behind.

I am an aspiring psychologist, and writer. I am a huge advocate of civil rights, feminism,LGBTQIA rights and expressing love rather than hate and bigotry to others. I express myself through poetry and other forms of writing, and have a love for more romantic and personal poems. I tend to write about topics close to home.
