America The Brave

America The Brave

They say America is the land of the free and home to the brave.

But what about the minds here that enslaved?

Every day I am told to go to school and pledge allegiance to the flag.

Hand over heart reciting in unison with my comrades.

All while wondering who in class is concealing a 57 mag.

Stay in school, have a seat, get off the street.

I am told that’s where I will meet defeat.

Yet when I’m in the hall there is a stench of deceit.

Safety and deception do not reside together.

So, fear creeps in deciding the weather.

Maybe I should tote a baby 380.

You know, not to hurt anyone,

It’s just for my safety.

It sets alarms when they are pushing for teachers to bare arms.

Where is the positivity that should be paved?

Hah, they say America is the land of the free,

I have no choice but to be brave!
