America The Not So Great

I

Hi there! Please go away now!

You don’t belong here!

You don’t look like us,

You don't sound like us, and

You don’t do things like us!

We don’t want you here.

Didn’t you know that this country

wasn’t built on the back of immigrant slaves?

Didn’t you know that

we don’t have any more immigrants?

Go bother some other country.

Oh, you’re Muslim? Go away you terrorist!

Oh, you’re from a country that we do business with?

Come in, come in! We want you!

II

“Black lives matter!”

says the white man as he shoots a black man.

“Black lives matter!”

says the black person as they violently protest.

“Black lives matter.”

states the peaceful protester.

“Don’t all lives matter?”

sneers the prejudiced asshole.

“Shouldn’t all lives matter?”

someone questions.

“Money is all that matters,”

states the government official.

III

“What has this world come to?

Where did we go wrong?

We need to fix this!”

says the inactive citizen.

Change is a result of action.

Change cannot happen;

change will not happen.

Change does not occur without action.

It is not impossible.

Change is hard,

change is tiring,

change seems impossible,

change feels impossible.

CHANGE MUST HAPPEN.

Change will not occur for the bystander

Change will occur for those who work for it.

If you don’t like it, change it.

If you can’t stand it, do something about it.
