America: Past and Present

They wanted some space

We think work is a race

They came to America with vast amounts of pride

Not much care for the government, just eating what’s fried.

Equality is new, no time for remarks.

Racism is in, people living in parks.

Soldiers come back as victorious men.

Our people are dying, when will it end?

Englishmen came, desired exploration

Americans leave at the thought of vacation

Dedicating their lives to love and compassion

We spend our days shopping for new fashion.

Giving their children the upmost respect.

There are drug addicts here, that only neglect.

They worked on big cities, with so many schools.

Education taxed first, they think we are fools.

Dealing with people, some of whom were witches.

Making movies about them,  actors have riches.

Celebrating was life, and they liked to drink.

Partying harder than they did, as we run to a sink.

Being attacked, non-violent people would run

We feel threatened, and we pull out a gun

Their love for America was like no other.

Everyone complains a lot, even our mother.

Rich and poor we are all the same.

To the rich, the poor are to blame.

Obeying the laws, no care for the power

Misery is lived, no money to shower

They ate everything that came from the soil.

We throw it away, buy more and we spoil.

They farmed, they tilled, they worked through the cramps.

We lie, we cheat, and pay with food stamps.
