America tells me...

America tells me

“Go back to where you’re from!”

Don’t they know

They stand on the ground where my culture was erased

America tells her

“You were asking for it”

Don’t they know

She was begging for him to stop

America tells him

“Freedom of religion”

Don’t they know

His mosque is on fire

America tells them

“Innocent until proven guilty”

Don’t they know

Their hands are shaking as they raise them above their head

America tells us

“I don’t see color”

Don’t they know

They see the world in black and white

America tells us all

“Land of the free”

Don’t they know

We aren’t
