American Dream

I am just a student:

Lugubrious - studious.

I don't have a job -

don't have time and don't have patience.

Due date is tomorrow

so I won't go out with my aquaintence.

That's all we are anyways,

so I guess it's not a big deal.

Don't have the time anyways,

so I guess that I shouldn't feel

sorry for myself.

I'm doing this to myself:

worrying, working hard.

Probably won't get me far.

Maybe I should apply for a scholarship today.

Maybe I should go outside and see the sun today.

Not likely, however;

I'll stick to my basement;

memorize new vocab words

"expand" my education.

I mean, you know what they say:

"There are no options without college.

I'll be homeless without college."

I'll be homeless after college.

Endless debt after college!

But as long as I become a lawyer,

I'll be fine, right?

But I don't want to BE a lawyer.

so what's the point, right?

Besides, it's not for ME -

It's for SOCIETY.

They'll do whatever you tell them to.

They'll sacrifice their youth for you.

They'll pay their college fees for you.

They'll cut down all their trees for you.

But please keep this in mind:

Don't be surprised to find

that all your loyal scholars

have failed to bring you dollars.

We have dreams, you know.

It's not just you, you know.

The American dream is cool, you know.

But it's just not for me.
