American Lie

Whoever said the grass is greener on the other side Has obviously never been on our side Whoever said money can't buy happiness Has truly never been poor Open your mind to more then you see Do you believe all that you hear Life in America is just a lie We all live the American lie Poison disguised as wonderful treats Innocent children, ignorant bliss, foolish parents who claim to be wise Past generations look on sick As they journey down to the deepest pits And from the bottom they will yell, save us, save us from ourselves And from the top they'll hear a whisper  We can't save you, no one can, only you can save yourselves  The pit grows wider Eyes glow darker Minds all fall apart No one knows how to save themselves  No one will ever try This is the American dream we all tried to achieve Fooled by those as smart as dogs but rich as nature Welcome to the American dream the true American lie
