American Nightmare

Black kid born on the streets

Black kid born on the streets

The hustle just to eat

Thank God that’s not me

But this is reality

I am not greater than these

If anything I am least, I will not stand by

Watch my brothers bleed, as I feast

I eat this bread

As I think about death

I drink this wine

As I think about life

All this violence, all these fights

This isn’t an issue of

Black and white

My heart cries out to the poor

Those who struggle daily

A burden placed by the lord

This has been in my mind lately

What can I do, just a kid

I’ve never really been the type, to fit in

I think that’s why I started to resist

Change the world, with my music

I speak for those that are weak

I speak for those that are meek

I speak for suffering in the streets

I speak for the least of these

I speak because I care

I speak because laws are unfair

I speak for those who are living in

The American nightmare

I hate the middle class

I hate the middle class,

I cannot stand,

How we glorify treating the hood like trash

I’m not going to front

I was like them once too

But recently

My eyes have been, opened to the truth

I’ve heard things, no man has ever heard before

This true wisdom, has been brought down from the lord

This is not something, I can just blatantly ignore

This is much more, than a man could ever ask for

If Jesus came to earth, would he roll with the upper class?

Or would he be in Baltimore, Protesting with us blacks

Would he be on the poster for the republican campaign?

Or would he be on the streets grinding and hustling just for some change

If you push a man, he will push back even harder

So you can’t kill one of us, not expecting karma

So let’s start the flames, and light up the flares

Because tonight we’re going to end, the American Nightmare
