Americans We

 Americans We

We were the arnsenal of democracy,

There, fighting on the beaches of Normandy.

We felt victory at last and our enemies none,

By standing together, Americans as one.

A symbol of freedom, a city on a hill.

Strong with courage and an iron will,

We fought at Yorktown and in the Coral Sea;

We fought like the warriors we were meant to be.

But now America seems to be a house divided;

A political maelstrom, our people misguided.

The darkness draws near, for it's our crucial hour;

Our unity melting, and our hearts sour.

Yet if we can only learn to love and not hate,

Perhaps, settle our differences without bitter debate,

Then turn around this mighty ship we can,

Because we are Americans, and united we stand.
