Amid The Lights
You were a soundless summer gust whom was filled with rarity
Except for the smiles and mild outbursts - walking amid the lights
Bright beams slim yet luminous exposing pallid skin
Moon wide awake, witnessing your peculiarity
Amid the lights, a cup lay in one hand, is it half empty or is it half full?
Warmth to bitterness - chocolate to red wine
Stained lips curve up, staggering mind in space begins to write
Gravity either gives a great push or a grand pull
Shaky hands slave away as your mind spills out thoughts
Memory Lane flares up, brighter street lights lead the way
How is it possible to write as if you were once a child again?
Who wrote about singing stars and dancing astronauts
Towering street lights highlight the sudden rain
Pitter patter, pitter patter, pitter patter
Pages upon pages of writing moisten and it’s too late to turn back
Bubbly and full of atrocious ideas, you head to Main
The only escape was being amid the lights at this time
Sodden clothes, sodden book, and sodden heart - a dreary night
You were alone, a realization occurred - resulting in lots of reminiscing
Sitting at the Main sign, a jaw-cracking yawn said it is bedtime
Oh, how you dreamt on and on about flying like a butterfly
This time, you thoroughly enjoyed chapped lips stained with bitterness
Amid the lights, you lived wildly - out all night, a party for one
When dropped, the book kept open, last word written was goodbye
