Amnesia
Who are you? Who am I?
What am I doing here? And what's going on?
I've never seen you before but you said we were a couple
A couple of foolish children that were once in love you say
You may be in love with me but I have no recollection of you
Happy times, sad times are drifting memories to me
Running through meadows of consciousness
Drifting through the river of your pictures and reading through the lines of your journal........
Words those were heartbreaking to read though my memory was a wisp in the wind
Like a magician and his top hat, no rabbits being pulled
only air
Years of your therapy and I'm back to the old me
Laughing and swinging intertwined hands as we run on the beach
Splashing the salty ocean waters and amoeba on our fair skin
Where I knelt on the white sand and held out my heart in one plan
And your hand in the other
You helped me through the worst times
You gave me back the best
As the cancer was killing me
You stood by me
As death was knocking on my door
You wouldn't let him in
When I lost all hope of reminiscing our past
You held the scrapbook of our future
When I didn't think I could love you again
You taught me, you showed me how to love
You showed no fear or weakness of losing me
When I did of losing you
So now I take your love as you take mine
Standing at the alter in white and black
You say your vows as I cried mine
And now your my wife, my future, my present and past
I thank you, my dear Amnesia
