Among Us All
You are not the only one among us all that feels like you're worthless,
But I want you to know that you don't have to be be perfect.
I promise that there isn't a perfect person among us all,
Don't trust a perfect person because dishonesty is a flaw.
If you think that I'm perfect then you better look,
There are pages that I wish I could rip outta this notebook.
Poems I wish I never wrote and chances that I wish I took.
But my words can be shield or they can be weapons,
Either way I can never forget them.
Every single word I write has a fatal flaw,
And that's the fact that I say that I believe in them all.
There are times when I want to wipe the slate clean,
But then I realize that these mistakes make up me.
You are not the only one among us all that thinks you broken,
You believe that no one wants to hear you so your dreams remain unspoken,
I promise that there isn't a perfect person among us all,
But some of us go on Broadway acting like our troubles seem small.
You think someone's perfect then just remember that they had a past,
But please don't remind them that they can't go back.
We don't want to remember so we put on a mask.
But the past is eventually going to creep in just like a ghost,
If we don't live for today yesterday could take the things we love most.
Maybe perfection itself is a flaw,
And if we keep on believing that we will never fall.
There are times when it feels like everything is going wrong,
But your strength is being tested and now you gotta stand strong.
You are not the only one among us all that swears that you will never mend,
But we are all broken people and this will not be the end.
I promise you that there isn't a perfect person among us all,
But we need to keep on going even if we need to crawl.
So I was blinded by a fruitless ambition,
Becoming perfect was my hopeless mission.
But now my flaws have me trapped in submission.
I am almost to that point where I swear that I won't take it anymore,
But I have been beaten and I am bleeding on the cold floor.
The lights shin through my flaws,
Can this war just take a pause?
I have decided that I don't have to hate my own limitations,
Because I don't have to allow myself to be defined by their expectation.
You are not the only one but you don't have to be,
Can please just realize that even the darkest things hold beauty.
I promise you that there isn't a perfect person among us all,
But I am no longer held back by my own flaws.
