Anagapesis

Passion, intensity, exhilaration--
Sensations cease to awaken in thee.
Thou loved me in devout admiration,
But now you are disenchanted by me.

Hast thou always deemed thy proud heart a prize
My steadfast spirit is unworthy of,
Or, though my love for thee intensifies,
Did you genuinely fall out of love?

I trusted thy every word when you swore
Thy hand's longing for mine would not abate.
I foolishly mistook thy lust and amour
For loyal love that would not undulate.

I regret not love you never returned,
For from our demised affection I have learned.
