The Anchor

Enter, faithful northern starlight

Deeply bowing to a brighter beacon

That befriends mariners

But still denied her whole sight.

Her ocean breath rolls over ribbon waves

Smoothing a lonely ship’s fears of being

Swallowed in solidarity.

Halting doubt’s strangle and saves

She buffs bruises and protects from thunder

Leagues together in an adrifted embrace,

Leaves a confession desiring departure

And slowly, the boat sinks under.

Chained to light, the boat’s gaze

Travels to the naiads’ star.

Though resentment surface from the drowned ship

Beneath is unrelenting love, always.
