"The Before and After: A Comparison of Souls"

#flawless

There’s always two souls to a person

The one everyone sees from day to day

And the one that hides and waits for the chance of immersion

Because she never witnesses daybreak

Steadily covered up by make-up, and the tiny inflections

Pointed out by women ashamed of their own faces

Painted.

But who is she?

She’s the girl who posts things on Instagram that relate to her

A girl who loves life and lives right by any means necessary

That’s what makes her perfect

Not in the societal definition, no.

She’s perfect in the way that causes her to conceal with concealers,

Shy away from the stars in her eyes and the curves of her smile,

She’s perfect in the way that makes her remember

That mirrors can be the enemy.

She’s flawless with her songbird spirit, fluid humor that has no filter, and boundary-less humility.

There’s always two souls to a person

The one everyone sees from day to day

And the one that hides and waits for the chance of immersion

Because she never witnesses daybreak

But today she stands up and effaces completely

The charade of the woman she was trying to be

She embraces her large hands, nose, lips, and eyes

The caramel skin and thickness of her thighs

Now she knows that accepting the improbable was possible only because she had never tried

But guys, I’m more than trying now and I understand that perfection is what you make it
