And so....

I write

Metaphors, similies, hyperboles

all of this was new to me,

mixing words with tastes

and feelings with senses.

Drifting from imagined agonies

on crumbled paper balls

to find the comforts Shakespeare

seemed to promise.

Striving to create delicacies

that melt into your bones.

Dishes that explain something,

something I do not yet understand.

A thing I cannot name

the creature hiding in my shadows.

And so I write

to understand myself

grappling with the ugliness inside of me

Shying away from the light

when it finds that thing lurking inside of me.
