And Such A Lovely Song It Is

Fri, 10/27/2017 - 09:59 -- Brys

Sweaty palms, winded breaths, I jolt awake,

And unexpectedly you were there, without a moment to forsake.

My eyelids were heavy as you sung smooth and lowly,

And I didn't hesitate to move near you, and pulled the covers slowly.

Your hair, ears, nose and mouth were a lovely sight to see,

Especially, in this very moment since they all belong to me,

You're my comfort, home and sight for sore eyes,

And I can imagine you -just you- when I gaze up towards the finite sky.

"Darling, it was a dream," I hear a light voice say,

But the nightmare of twisted faces behind my visage refuses to decay,

The humming continues from their voice in a soft tune,

As the static in the radio falls like the sun in the afternoon.

Then, I had a thought as all the pain residing in me subsided.

When my heart's no longer heavy,

And your throat hurts from singing along,

I will rest my head on your softening chest,

With your heartbeat as my new and eternal song.
