And Then She Falls Apart

She looked as though She had it all together.

She was always smiling

And she had good grades.;

But little did anyone know how much she was struggling.

Desperately trying to keep it all inside,

She lost herself along the way

trying to find hope

to find happiness

to find the girl she used to be

She tried to stand tall

instead, she would falter

She would fall...

Tried to stay strong

Left her feeling weaker

than before.

She tried to run

and found a place

where the line between family and friends was blurred.

A place where love

and hope

are the strongest forces there are

Where new life

grows

and long life

celebrates

Celebrated each day

as a promise

as a promise of something

Something new

Something free

Something priceless

As priceless as the memories

memories shared

memories made.

but even memories can't save her now

They surround her

Consume her

She falls harder

lower

And no one is there to pick her up

she wants to keep fighting

But she is tired.

She wants to keep it together

but she is tired.

She stops trying

She pushes away loved ones

She cuts her hair

She isolates herself from anything that used to bring her joy

because she has convinced her self that happiness is a sin

She wants to be loved but won't let anyone love her

she wants to be heard but she never speaks

She wants a shoulder to cry on but never sheds a tear

She wants to be found but makes herself invisible

Her silent cries pleading everyone to see her pain

Whilst hoping no one ever does.

Because she doesn't know if she can handle it

She wants desperately to tell someone,

but doesn't want to say a word

So she stays silent.

She lets her pain consume her until it becomes too much

it grows until it becomes so heavy she has to let go

of the last thread of hope.

Until it becomes so dark it extinguishes the last flame of happiness.

She lets it control her.

She no longer tries to save herself.

She no longer smiles.

She no longer has good grades.

She stops trying to hold it all together.

Because she thinks she doesn't deserve it.

And then eventually she gives up.

And then she falls apart.
