And We Do It All Again

I don’t know why I just can’t stop all these tears

So much inside, so much lost pride, so much craving to be

Like you, like her, anyone but me.

The pictures you don’t see on my page, the words you don’t say to my face

Bet you could never guess, this world feels like a cold, dark, lonely place

Concrete cold, never feeling bold, taking on all these years just growing old

Smiles come and so they too go, oh don’t you get me wrong

But I want, what everyone wants even if they don’t say

Just to feel like one day, this is where I belong

I bleed when a thorn pierces my skin

I cry when a loved one dies and everything caves in

My baby’s face is my saving grace

And just like you I put on another face

But, please don’t, please me, just to make it easy

Walk away even if I say, yes, no, oh my God just go

You’re just torture in this made up world of stick people, rich people, old people, damn people

Cut you out, make a chain of a million more

Just like you and they’ll all be standing at this world’s door

Saying we should all make a difference, be a better person and don’t forget to paint me in

This Canvas where it’s all a picture perfect lie

Just sayin, put your legs to the ground, stop moving your lips, mean what you say, oh sigh

Who are we kidding when we say we should have been more kind, should’ve listened, should’ve tried

The wounded souls, the angry monsters, the charade just keeps goin and each convinced of their own lies

Got damn, say it again, hold it all in, let it all out, make your self feel better for the truth that doesn’t exist

Go ahead make your empty promises for the next victim on your list

But be reminded of this

There’s gonna come a day when all that you poured out will come crashing in
