And Yet
Heartbroken
Crestfallen
I thought you were safe
I thought you'd be careful with my heart
Because you were my best friend
But you did all the things you told your previous boyfriend not to
You told him not to ignore you
You told him to do the little things
And yet I found myself telling you the same thing
“I just want to hold your hand,”
A phrase said too many times
I kissed you on your forehead
I sent you paragraphs about how much I loved you while you were asleep
I told you goodnight and good morning every day for two months
I did everything I wanted you to do to me
And yet
I got barely anything
And yet
You broke up with me
And yet
I still love you
And yet
And ye
And y
And
An
A
