Andato

The breeze whispers On the dandelion lawn Whispers of times past Of things that are gone Scattered in the wind In times past When the sun did kiss A carpet of emerald turf In an era of bliss And not scattered in the wind In those days All was well The landscape was tended An etching masterpiece of pastel Before it was scattered in the wind Then one day A tumultuous tempest rose Jealous of prosperity Eager to make it decompose And have it scattered in the wind Now, crows replace songbirds Clouds shut out the sun The pastel masterpiece has been overrun It is done Scattered in the wind

It was written as an ode of a neighbor who passed away. He used to meticulously tend to his landscape; now that he is gone, I tear at the sight of his yard in disrepair.
