Angel

No filter? I was born with no filter.

Born to be free like the bones of a killer

On a spree through the streets with a paper bag in hand.

Louder than the gusts of wind that shake the broken

Gates of Heaven. Even if I don't believe in Hell,

It might be where I'm headed because I chose to be myself.

I've been in a bed, and slept alone through the storm,

And still come out through the eye of the hurricane,

My heart and mind so worn.

Worn but ready. Winged and ribbed like an Angel, but for flying, still too heavy.

That's who I am. I'm a way with words.

A caged demon, jealous of the birds in the sky...like I've been grounded my whole life.

It feels heavy under the sea, but I'm still the treasure,

that buries you at your knees.

Through the haze, through the San Francisco fog,

I'll push my way through, dodging bullets from God.

I'll hold my head higher than Lady Liberty,

and condemn all my failures.

Pining for a reality where people don't conceal themselves with "filters".
