Angel
I once saw an angel
My anxiety had overpowered me that night while I was washing the dishes
The weight in my chest sped up my breath and I felt scared
My eyes sunk and I felt tired
I ran to bed and closed my eyes
He stood tall and graceful
His smile felt welcoming
My heart slowed down
He spoke to me
He whispered and calmly said he saw something in me
He saw I doubted myself
He lifted my chin and smiled
I woke up the next morning
With reason and a sense of passion
I never saw the angel again
I sometimes wonder why
I wonder if he had come only when I needed him
I think back to this when I’m having a hard time
If my angel isn’t here, I must be doing okay
