Angel of Death
Good-bye, Papa
Good-bye, Mama.
I am being taken away.
I can’t remember,
Yet I shall never forget that night.
Bodies, wreaths of smoke,
Many crazed men, so many cries, much brutality.
Hell.
Never shall I forget these things, even if I am condemned to live as long as God himself.
They thank God?
What God.
A god that sees, death, as inhuman as this?
No.
I don’t wast my tears on this threshold of death.
I shut my eyes but cannot shut my ears. I hear,
“Heil Hitler!”
I feel no one, no gratitude.
My senses blunted.
Everything is blurred, as in a fog.
I ceases to feel any pain.
For that I thank God.
My Angel of Death.
