The Angel of the Sea

Once upon a time, there lived a mermaid with ruby locks

She dreamed of the day

She could fly over the sea

She travelled the ocean

Grasping everything she could

To find hope for her dream to grow wings

When she met a fallen angel

She thought her dreams had come true

For she had just met

With one who knew

Who knew the sea, and knew the sky

She questioned their knowledge

But they withheld why

The fallen angel gave her a chance at hope

Requested her voice in the exchange for wings

She questioned at first

But then quickly agreed

Her voice of melody slipped away fast

As she soared through the clouds

Feeling freedom at last

While the sensation was wonderous

She quickly learned

Without communication, how would she return

To the family she loved, to the fish in the sea

The wings were joyous

But oppressing her rapidly

She dreamed of the day

She would return
