Angst Teen

16 years old, staring at my phone. Sounds like the life of most.

I had found a new passion. Poems that spoke what I couldn’t say.

The more I looked the more I found. Words said by others that related to me oh so well.

I was an angst teen craving love and acceptance.

But finding others feeling the way I felt made things better.

Few years later and I cringe at the thought of the old me. Wanting attention and acceptance.

When all I had to do was love myself.

I finally do.

And It dawned on me.

I had my own voice.

My own thoughts.

I didn’t have to look for poets that felt like me. I could write my own thoughts.

So I finally did.
