Animals

The feel of another’s touch

To sit and lay together in silence

To see their face light up at just the sight of you

The little things we do for each other

Be it comfort when we’re feeling sad,

Or just making us feel not so alone.

That sensation we get that we know is love.

But does it matter if that love comes from an animal?

Do they not still have a heart? A soul?

Do they not feel pain? Or joy?

In the end they’re all just looking for a companion,

Someone to hold them close,

To make their day and be with them

Isn’t that we’re all truly looking for?

Someone to share a life with,

To be important to that special someone,

And have a more meaningful existence.

So the one thing I’d change,

Are the people that choose to hurt their animals

Because they betray that special bond,

And they are the true animals.
