I learned the word animosity in 2016

Because the word is thrown around carelessly

Whether it be in the news or in discussion

This word is used to describe the world currently

This word is new to me

To others, the word is how we describe recent society

Racism, sexism and homophobia

A united nation seems impossible without a little propriety

Animosity is a negative word

It’s described as hatred and extreme dislike

How sad is it that this word is used to describe the U.S.

How sad is it that everyone cannot see that we are, in fact, all alike

We are all people

We are all human beings

We need to stop treating each other as if we have no feelings

The only change that needs to be made

Is the love and support we have for our community

Because without respect

Consolidation is lost and there is no unity
