Anna
She sees you sitting at lunch alone
And she walks over and says
"Do you need a friend?"
She takes your hands
And holds them tight
And for the first time you feel safe.
But once she has that grip on you
She won't let go
And you don't have the power to resist.
Before you know it
She's sitting with you at lunch
Whispering, "you don't need to eat".
Before you know it
She's following you home from school
Reminding you of all your insecurities.
Before you know it
She's in the bathroom with you
Sticking her hand down your throat.
Before you know it
She's at the doctors office with you
Laughing as the number on the scale falls.
Before you know it
She gently closes your eyes
And lowers you into the ground.
Before you know it
She takes the hands of the next girl
Who only wanted a friend.
You wish you could stop Anna
But you can't.
