Anonymous

My father was an alcoholic.

Maybe it's true that he still is.

Although he battles everyday,

His wounds are labeled 'anonymous'.

Anonymous is the word to describe many things.

And, these things are meant to be hidden.

A secret admirer, or perhaps a lost poet.

But, not a disease that has done nothing but taken...

Anonymous sheds her skin with his every bottle.

A childhood is lost as an adult is born.

She doesn't always understand,

But, the eyes of an infant have never seen more.

Then, years go by, and life goes on.

And, the young woman is still anonymous.

She can't escape her fractured past,

But, she can begin to heal their relationship.

Sometimes, she wonders if she'll ever move forward,

And, rise from the ashes like a proud phoenix.

Will she finally make something of herself?

Or was she meant to stay hidden as Anonymous?
